author information

Fred Schrumpf holds master's degrees in both social work and education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has practiced school social work for the past 20 years. He has also taught at the University of Illinois, Eastern Washington University, and Idaho State University. He is currently a trainer-consultant delivering workshops on conflict resolution, peer mediation, and the teaching of life skills. In 1990 he was named Social Worker of the Year by the Illini chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. He is the author of Peer Mediation: Conflict Resolution in Schools (Research Press, 1991).

Sharon Freiburg holds a master's degree in educational administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education and special education from Quincy College, Quincy, Illinois. She has taught both regular and special education classes at various grade levels and has conducted workshops and inservices for school districts throughout Illinois on topics such as classroom management, cooperative learning, working with parents, and advisor-advisee programs. currently she is Dean of Students at Urbana High School in Urbana, Illinois.

David Skadden holds a bachelor's degree in education and master's degrees in both sports psychology and social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has taught and coached at the kindergarten through college levels. Presently, he is the school social worker at Central High School in Champaign, Illinois.
